Pay Components

What is a Pay Component?

Pay Components are compensation amounts that are in addition to the base compensation rate.  Additional pay components are shown as rate codes in HR/Pay under the Compensation tab.  The sum of all employee’s pay components equal the total compensation rate.

Additional information regarding pay components:

  • Pay components are calculated and paid out according to whether the employee is a 12-month employee or 9-month employee.
  • Administrative Supplements are included in Summer Pay calculations.
  • Non-Base Supplements are not included in Summer Pay calculations and are removed at the end of the Academic Year.
  • Components which are provided in the budget collection process are the components that will be added back during the budget load process
  • Hourly employees are not eligible to participate in pay components.  (If an hourly employee receives a phone stipend then it must go through the Additional Pay process that is set up with Payroll.)
