Colonial Life offers individual, voluntary accident, cancer, critical illness and hospital confinement indemnity insurance plans. See the State Employee Health Plan Colonial Life page for additional plan, enrollment, and premium information for these insurance products. Enrollment in these products can occur at any time throughout the year and premiums are deducted from the first two paychecks of the month.
Colonial Life plans will no longer be payroll deducted as of January 1, 2018. As the plans are portable, you can pay for coverage directly with Colonial Life. For additional information, please contact 1-800-325-4368.

- Accident insurance - helps offset unexpected medical expenses due to an accidental injury
- Hospital Indemnity Insurance - provides a lump sum benefit to help cover inpatient hospital stays.
- Critical Illness Insurance - provides a lump-sum benefit that can be used to help pay costs related to a covered illness.
How do I enroll?
Members will be provided opportunity to enroll through MAP during Open Enrollment or new employee Initial Enrollment. To complete enrollment, login MAP using your KU ID and password. Once logged in, visit the "Enrollment & Events" tab and click in "Launch Enrollment".
How do I pay for coverage?
Coverage is paid through convenient payroll deduction, on an after-tax basis.
What is the coverage effective date?
The coverage effective date is 01/01/2018.
