Long Term Disability
All benefits eligible faculty and staff are covered under the State of Kansas Long Term Disability (LTD) program that is paid for by the University. The LTD program is administered by KPERS and the third-party administrator for the plan is Davies Life & Health.
The LTD plan provides you with income if you become disabled through injury or sickness and you are unable to continue working. There is a 180 calendar day waiting period before LTD benefits will be provided. If approved for LTD benefits, access to your retirement plan contributions (KPERS and the KBOR Mandatory Retirement Plan) is prohibited.
- If you are in KPERS Tiers 1, 2, or 3, you will receive benefits under theKPERS long term disability plan (pdf) , (the same benefit is available regardless of Tier)
- If you are in the KBOR Mandatory Retirement Plan, you will receive benefits under the KBOR long term disability plan
- If you are a university police officer, you will receive benefits under the KP&F long term disability plan under the Disability tab.
