Accelerated Death Benefit

If you are diagnosed as terminally ill with 24 months or fewer to live, you may be eligible to receive up to 100% of your life insurance instead of your beneficiary receiving the insurance amount.

Eligibility

All benefits eligible employees who participate in KPERS or in the KBOR mandatory retirement plan are eligible.

Cost

The cost of this benefit for the basic life insurance plan is covered by the University.  The cost for this benefit for the optional group life insurance plan is paid for by the employee.

Enrollment

All eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the basic group life insurance plan at the time they are hired.
