Employee Relations

Employee Relations staff is available to provide support to employees, managers and supervisors with the goal of enhancing the employee experience to boost morale and confidence, encourage success and minimize risk.

Learn more about employee performance management, goal setting, progressive discipline, employment leave options, collective bargaining units memoranda of agreement, departure resources, grievance procedures, and other employee support and resources.

Performance Management and MyTalent System

Learn more about ongoing ways, as an employee or supervisor, to stay on top of your or your employees' resposibilities, setting goals, documenting progress and preparing for and completing the annual performance review. MyTalent provides tools for probationary employment, job coaching/counseling and progressive discipline in order to maintain clear and consistent feedback and documentation. Ideally supervisors and employees are meeting monthly to talk about goals and progress, and documenting progress on a quarterly basis. These regular meetings make the annual review process less arguous.

MyTalent Perfomance Management System: Learn about goal setting, self-evaluations, ongoing feedback and annual performance reviews

Progressive Discipline: Learn about appropriately documenting and counseling employee progress

  • Depending on the employee classification (USS, UPS, Faculty, Union, 3G, student hourly, etc.), and whether an employee is in probationary stauts, there are different processes to follow to address employee performance and conduct.

Employee Leave Options

Exiting KU

In an effort to further our workplace excellence and advance a culture valuing the contributions and aspirations of our employees, KU employees that are leaving or transferring to another unit are invited to participate in an anonymous, confidential electronic exit interview questionnaire.  Information collected will provide valuable University-wide data that will be used to learn from and act upon for continuous improvement.  To begin, click Exit Questionnaire.  If you are unable to complete the online survey, but wish to do so on paper, please contact hrdept@ku.edu.
