Classification Structure

The classification structure below is applicable to all USS and UPS positions. Staff job titles have a corresponding job family and salary structure and range.  For job title summaries and required qualifications, use the links below for each job family.

Job families are groupings of similar jobs. They may be used in ongoing market comparisons among jobs. Common attributes of job families may include similar knowledge requirements, key behaviors, skills and abilities. There are often multiple job series with levels of positions within each job family that provide a framework for career progression.

Facilities Planning, Design, and OperationsPlans, designs, manages or performs activities related to the maintenance, construction, repair or installation of facilities, grounds, infrastructure, equipment and/or vehicles.

Food Service and DietaryProvide services relating to food preparation and delivery as well as health guidance regarding nutrition.A
HealthcareProvides direct medical and psychological treatment to students, faculty and/or community members. Jobs also provide guidance to students, staff, and/or the community on physical and mental health related issues.A
Information Technology - CentralProvides functional and/or technical support of software and hardware in the conceptualization, creation, development, implementation, use, management, and storage of technology and computing for research and/or instruction.A
