Creates, maintains, tests, troubleshoots and/or implements hardware, software and/or data systems solutions used in the support of research and instruction. Uses principles, theories and concepts in the specific fields, plus, may have working knowledge of other related disciplines to provide solutions to a range of problems, and ensures solutions and/or changes are implemented. Applies experience and knowledge of scientific research or engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Plans and conducts work requiring independent judgment in the evolution, selection, and substantial adaptation and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Makes recommendations on technical problems and methods. Contributes to technical presentations and demonstrations at conferences and/or meetings. May participate in development of grant proposals and/or presentation of research findings. May participate in new external collaborative product development. Under minimal supervision, provides front-line supervisory support and management to staff in a particular area of responsibility within a unit. Manages, designs, and/or leads campus locations or public lab space to improve technology management and design to best serve the user. Provides services and long term strategies in hardware, software, mobile device support, and/or classroom technology for deployment and maintenance. Works as a liaison with an assigned school or unit. May coordinate and provide training to faculty and/or staff using classroom technologies. May serve as system administrator of a purchased system with a delivered application design to ensure that the environment includes adequate support for services, application and web functionality. High School Diploma/ GED and four years of relevant professional experience or an Associate’s degree and two years of relevant professional experience or a Bachelor’s degree.

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the engineering, integration, implementation, and operation of campus information technology infrastructure to meet requirements for campus electronic services such as ERP, security, student andother mission critical systems using advanced approaches to developing technology solutions. May supervise or provide leadership to staff. High School Diploma/ GED and seven years of relevant professional experience or an Associate’s degree and five years of relevant professional experience or a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant professional experience.

Under minimal supervision, works within a standards based collaborative team environment to contribute code, provide technical support and development expertise to various development projects and applications. Develops code,maintains, and supports software and applications independently or as a member of a small standards based team while continuously seeking methods for automation, efficiency, andsecurity conscious development. May supervise or provide leadership to staff. High School Diploma/ GED and seven years of relevant professional experience or an Associate’s degree and five years of relevant professional experience or a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant professional experience.

Under the supervision and mentorship of a faculty member, senior researcher or a research team leader, advances his/her training in an individualized research program area, teaching or other aspects of academic work or combination thereof. May develop, design and conduct research efforts in line with a research plan; reviews progress and evaluates results. May formulate research methods and suggests improvements for quality and may serve as part of a design team. On specific occasions, may serve as co-PI. Identifies problems, recommends and implements solutions. Consults with others to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements. Coordinates data collection and screening to verify data. Position is limited term with a typical duration of 1-5 years. Individuals who have served as a postdoctoral fellow/researcher for up to five years in the same area of research are not eligible.
