Serves in an administrative capacity to assist with the direction of operations of a research, public service or academic program combined with academic related program respondibilies such as advising, course scheduling, instructional coordinator, curriculum development, etc. as well as engaging in service both within and outside the university, maintaining professional credentials, and/or other duties that the appointing dean determines are consistent with this definition. Should have professional teaching and service responsibilities that are significantly heavier than those of tenured and tenure-track faculty. Research responsibilities are not included in the expectations for professors of the practice. Adheres to the faculty code of rights, responsibilities and conduct. Should hold the professional degree and licensing/certification as well as significant experience and a distinguished record of achievement in her or his field outside of the academy. Fixed term of up to 3 years, subsequent limited term appointment of no more than 5 years may be offered.
