Ensures research animals and facilities are maintained consistent with exemplary standards of animal care. Under indirect supervision, provides routine husbandry and care of research animals. Responsibilities also include cage sanitation and preparation for reuse. Serves as a leader within the ACU and can act in absence of the supervisor with guidance from ACU veterinary personnel. #High School diploma or GED equivalency and eighteen months of laboratory animal science experience and AALAS certification at LAT level.

Conducts work in a field or specialization of an engineering discipline to discover facts, or performs research directed toward investigation, evaluation, and application of known engineering theories and principles. Evaluates findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes; develops new applications to utilize findings in applicable fields of study or specializations; prepares technical reports for the use of other engineering or research staff. May plan, conduct, or direct engineering and/or research personnel performing complex engineering analyses and experiments to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions based on similar research findings and experiences of other researchers. #Bachelor¿s degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.

Performs content development tasks under the supervision of more senior curriculum and assessment staff. Organizes materials and prepares content for assessments or instructional resources. Performs a variety of technical tasks using established development guidelines and processes to write, edit, and review assessment items and instructional resources. Provides feedback to curriculum and assessment developers and reviewers. Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions. Bachelor’s degree and one year of teaching, large-scale assessment, or curriculum development experience.

Oversees planning and implementation of content development including blueprint, test design, and item writing processes for a complex project (e.g., multiple content areas or multiple projects). Monitors implementation progress and goal attainment to ensure that deliverables are met. Leads test design on assessment products. Collaborates on routine program development and implementation with project management, including program directors, test operations staff, and psychometricians. Manages processes so that assessment and instructional products meet professional standards. Collaborates with other team leaders on issues related to test and/or curriculum development. Oversees curriculum and assessment team work in item writing and reviews. Supervises staff and interacts with clients. Collaborates with curriculum and assessment project directors in full assessment program designs and validity studies. Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of large-scale assessment development experience or Master’s degree and 2 years of large-scale assessment development experience.

Functions as an integral member of ACU leadership team. Provide preventative, clinical, and surgical care to research animals utilized by KU-L investigators. Prepare and maintain records detailing diagnostic decisions ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local regulations. Direct and maintain a health surveillance program to include coordination of requests for importation of non-vendor source animals. Consult with investigators and staff regarding research animal needs and provide instruction and assistance in the special care and treatment of animals. Assist the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and ACU Director in maintaining compliance with all applicable Federal, state, and university laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines related to animal care and use. #Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA accredited institution. Current veterinary license in a least one state. Must obtain Kansas veterinary license within 12 months of appointment.

In collaboration with other researchers, participates as skilled contributor and/or lead researcher on one or more research projects, serving as an expert in a specialized area. Coordinates administrative, financial, personnel and planning aspects of a project. May serve as co-PI or as a PI. Designs or serves as a leader in the design of research or theoretical models, instrumentation, equipment, creation of algorithms and designs, study protocols, system development or other data collecting and gathering methodologies. Investigates, modifies, and applies new procedures, techniques or applications of research methods. Conducts research in an area of expertise, writing results for inclusion in broader research projects. Oversees development of data collection. Monitors integrity of data collection and use of protocols and procedures. May review and critique reports and analysis of other researchers and conducts ongoing, periodic and final analysis of data. Writes and/or collaborates with other researchers on manuscripts, abstracts and other publications of research findings. May perform research related activates in a laboratory setting. Evaluates experiment or study results using complex statistical and multivariate analysis. Participates in the development of a research plan. Conducts research, working as part of a research team, or performs research related activities. Interacts with other researchers and collaborates on lab techniques, study methodology, and suggests new techniques. Conducts literature search and research activities independently in labs, fieldwork, or program settings under the direction of faculty, senior researchers or a research team leader.
