Directs, leads, and oversees the operational activities of all KU-Lawrence animal IACUC research facilities by training and monitoring faculty, staff and students in the appropriate care, handling and use of animals. Creates a strategic plan for the facility and services based upon needs and future research expectations. Serves as the leader of the facility for accreditation visits and semiannual laboratory inspections. Oversees ACU operating budget and reviews ACU rate schedules. Ensures the humane, responsible, and scientifically or instructionally sound use of animals at the University by maintaining a current knowledge of laboratory animal science as well as regulations and standards affecting the use of animals in research and education. DVM and five years of related experience. Five years of progressive leadership responsibility. Licensure by the State of Kansas or eligibility to obtain licensure. Supervisory experience. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
