KU's Organizational Design Process

Step 1: Define
We partner with you (and your HR Business Partner) to map the current state, identify options, and help mitigate challenges.
Step 2: Design
With your feedback, we will evaluate and, if necessary, realign or redesign the structure to better support the goals of the unit and its employees.
Step 3: Develop
We will help build a playbook of the redesigned future state. We can also assist with change management plans, communication strategies, and coordination with Talent Acquisition, Faculty Affairs, and Compensation. Please note that anything related to KBOR approval typically falls under Academic Affairs or the Provost’s Office and will need to be coordinated through them.
Step 4: Deploy
We will help implement the redesigned structure by supporting updates to reporting lines, systems, and processes. We’ll also partner with you to ensure teams and leaders understand and adjust to their new roles, responsibilities, and workflows. Our goal is to help establish the new structure effectively and sustainably.
Step 4.1: Fine-Tune
After deployment, we’ll work with you to review how the new structure is functioning. This may include making minor adjustments to roles, workflows, or supports to ensure everything is working as intended. Our goal is to help you stabilize the structure and set your team up for long-term success.
