Assists the dean in conceptualizing and implementing new strategic direction for the school. Administers and oversees the design, development and implementation of the school¿s curriculum, and faculty support programs. Serves as a resource for new and current faculty. Responsible for managing administrative activities of the School in the Dean¿s absence. Functions as a liaison between the Dean and staff and students to facilitate faculty reviews, assess staffing needs, preserve academic standards and generally improve the program¿s atmosphere. Interprets and enforces academic policies and procedures for students, faculty and administrative staff. This includes, but is not limited to, general education requirements, school and departmental bi-laws, academic probation and disqualification, academic and scholarly misconduct, residency issues, etc. Assists in the resolution of academic issues as presented to the Deans Office. Typically chairs or represents the School on selected committees and boards. Has programmatic oversight and coordinates with Assistant Dean¿s and administrative staff on policy and administration issues. May teach courses and conduct research and/or scholarly activities as related to the area of discipline. #Terminal degree in a field to the related discipline. Five years of leadership or executive level administration. Responsible for the administration of an academic department including oversight on all courses offered and who teaches them, supervising staff, assigning merit to faculty, holding departmental meetings, implementing school and department policies, etc. and reports directly to the Dean. In addition, performs instruction, research and service in an institution of higher education. Senior level faculty tenured position. May be eligible for sabbatical leave. Ph.D. is required or equivalent terminal degree.
