Change in Staff Performance Evaluation Review Period from Calendar Year to Fiscal Year. Starting in Fiscal Year 2023.

Why are we making this change?

To align the employee evaluation and goal setting period with KU's Jayhawks Rising strategic plan. This will allow closer alignment of unit level and individual goal setting processes to objectives in Jayhawks Rising.

Who does this change affect?

Unclassified Professional Staff and University Support Staff only

What is changing for the existing performance evaluation review period?

Nothing, staff will complete the existing calendar year 2021 review period with supervisor sign-off by March 1st, 2022.

What is changing for the next review period starting in Jan 2022?

There will be a one-time 18 month evaluation covering January 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.  During this 18 month evaluation period, it is encouraged that supervisors and employees establish clear expectations using the FY 2023 goal plan in the MyTalent System and that supervisors provide ongoing feedback to employees during this 18 month period.  At a minimum, feedback should be provided every three months.

Timeline for Change to Staff Performance Annual Evaluation Review Period to Align with Fiscal Year

 

High-Level Transition Timeline

  • No change to existing evaluation review period for January through December of 2021.
  • There will be a one time 18-month goal plan for January 2022 through June 2023.
    • Supervisors must establish goals for staff during this goal plan period and meet at least every three months with the employee to review progress and provide feedback specific to the goals.
  • There will be a one time 18-month evaluation covering January 2022 through June 2023.
  • The evaluation period for fiscal year 2024 will cover July of 2023 through June of 2024 and continue this cadence moving forward.
